I awoke to the roosters crow at 6:10am and was in a cab on my way to the National Press Club by 6:40. I was a good little helper at our event and got to take home some pretty flowers. Hydrangeas and orchids with some big leaves mixed in. My desk is quite tranquil as a result.

During work I read an article about one of my favorite bloggers in the Times, which led me to another blog, and then another. Before I knew it half the day was gone. Whoops! But, it really did get me thinking about blogging, how mainstream it’s become, and how fun it is. I’m not going to be the next Perez, but it’s fun to do. Thanks Boo for being my muse… Can boys be muses? I think Marc Jacobs uses his gay bf as a muse…

Later in the day I found another blog all about the Park Ave high life and noticed some lady was wearing the same Anthropologie dress I have from LAST SEASON. Somebody at a seen and be seen Manhattan cocktail party 1) Wore Anthro, not Oscar? and 2) Dared to wear something from last summer? Wow. Gossip Girl would have picked that one up in a second. Good thing I am here in real life! Feast your eyes, it’s the chick in the middle.

Since I’d started work supah early I took off at 5pm and went to advanced pilates. Even though I’ve been coming quite frequently in the past few weeks, the teacher never remembers me! This time she thought I was another teacher at the gym. I usually wear the same Lululemon top too, don’t tell me this shirt is hard to forget.

After pilates I read the newest Lucky on the elliptical and had a free banana chocolate smoothie. MINT always has smoothie samples out in the evenings. I’ve never had to buy one because I can try all their creations for free - though the membership fee is a little steeper than Gold’s Gym - I guess you inadvertently pay for it (did I use the dashes right?).

I had my leftover chicken and risotto for dinner and did some GMAT studying on sentence correction. As a result, I have been wondering this whole time how my grammar is in this post (likely atrosh). Before bed I made myself a Absolut Ruby Red and soda and watched some television.

MMMMM Ruby Red…

Today I slept in to the wonderful hour of 9am in my little Wayland room where no busses are driving by and the shades keep it dark in the morning. Once awake I buzzed around, did a little work in the form of hiring us a summer intern (fingers crossed) and ate a yummy breakfast. Around 10:30 my Mom and I headed to the Natick Collection as we had some errands to run.

We played with purses at Neiman Marcus, but weren’t allowed to buy any, since Pia was now with us and we both tried on a bunch of dresses that were on sale, but again, we were good and didn’t buy any, then Burberry happened…

My Mom had a jacket on hold that she’d been wanting, and was way on sale. Thanks recession, I think that’s why all these designer duds have been on sale lately. The jacket, led to a tote bag, that led to earmuffs. Earmuffs in June you say? Welp they were also on sale, matched her scarf, and she’d wanted them. Might as well store them away for the Boston winter. We then stopped at Anthropologie where we ended up getting the same shirt. My Mom was the one who picked it out, she is so good at clothes these days!

After a light lunch at Sel de Terre we went home and I made my way right to the WSTC for some sun time. School had just gotten out for the day so it was hopping with all the Wayland children. I almost got hit by a tennis ball and a basketball a few times, but I didn’t care. I was at the pool instead of work, pretty much nothing was going to annoy me.

That evening I met Dana at her house in the South End. Her apartment was so cute, right on Clarendon St near Back Bay station. We made our way over to a Venezuelan restaurant called Orinoco and ordered a selection of things. Our favorite was an arepa with this amazing Venezuelan cheese, our second favorite was an empanada, but it wasn’t really an empanda that we were used to. Julia’s in Adams Morgan has them beat!

After dinner we went to the Beehive for a drink. It’s right on Tremont street and has a Jazz theme. I really liked the decor and liked my Hoegaarden beer even more!

I did have to drive home so I only stayed for a drink and then snuggled into bed. It was so great to see Dana, and have a day off in Wayland.

Even though I slept in I was still tiredtiredtired, whoops. I caught the late bus and rolled into work around 9:15. During the lunch hour (2 hours in my case) I met Kate and Maggie for our bi-monthly “Future Ladies Who Lunch” meeting at Rugby Cafe. We’ve all secretly wanted to try it, and I mean is there a more ladies-who-lunch spot than the preppiest cafe in Georgetown, I think not. I had a Mozzarella and Basil Panini with a side salad. When being a lady who lunches your meal automatically has to include salad.

Conversations ranged from our upcoming charity benefit (winefest) to our summer houses in the Hamptons (how to sneak into the Hilton pool) and of course our cheating husbands (you better not be making out with an Asian booboo, I’ll kill ya). After dining we decided to be totally bad ass and shop. I found a great shirt at Anthropologie, but they didn’t have my size. Once back at work I ordered it online. It’s flowy and summery and has a pattern. I am trying to avoid solids, I already have too many.

After my two hour lunch I made it back to work, finished up my stuff, and left around 5. I headed to Tiffany’s to pick up my jewelry, with a stop at Saks and Banana on the way. I didn’t let myself buy anything, just browsed. To my delight Tiffany had gotten the contact solution stains out of my stuff, oh how it shines.

Once home I popped on my Lulu shorts and went for a run on my favorite Massachusetts Ave loop. Exhausted I made some dinner and watched TV, calling it an early night. I have to rest up for winefest tomorrow!

Sadly I was not swimming in Hvar today, but I did buy some shirts, so that made me almost as happy. Matt was in Laos today. I think he is hitting up every place Marc has been/ is going to go. He was broadcasting from this cool Buddhist temple in the capital, where supposedly some remains of the Buddha, his breastbone to be exact, are buried. Tomorrow’s clue is this:

“So the prime rate you guessed, the red lights you saw through. The anagram even proved easy to chew. In this place you can rock and there’s one heck of a mall. With a turn of the head, different continents call.”

The picture on the site looks a lot like the Golden Gate Bridge, but that would just be too easy, wouldn’t it? I should totally know where “one heck of a mall is” but I bet it’s a play. Like the “national mall” or something like that.

The highlight of my workday was a 1.5 hour lunch trip to Georgetown. Our boss was out, so clearly, we took advantage. Everything was on sale at Banana Republic and I had a $10 gift certificate. I had to buy these two shirts.

Then, it was necessary to go to Anthropologie. When I got those navy blue capris for Morocco I had forgotten my store credit. So, I went back with my store credit, returned the pants, and bought them back with the store credit. They had also gone on sale more ($69 to $29), so I even got the new sale price. Wahoo. I accidentally bought two more shirts, but my mom hasn’t shopped at Anthropologie in awhile, so L.L. Bean treated me. Isn’t the pink one the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!!!

I had a busy afternoon of compiling reports and gchatting. Since said boss was away we all left early. This was a good thing, as I had to don my apron and begin dinner. Michelle was coming over at 6:30.

The Menu:

Appetizers - JAMON, Gruyere, and Water Crackers.

Main Course - Chicken Marsala with Baby Bella Mushrooms, Rosemary Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Red Lettuce Salad with a Maple Balsamic Vinagrette. However, when I went to get my Marsala wine it wasn’t there. I think it might be in North Carolina. I was mad, but we improvised with some of our Pinot Noir instead, PHEW. Also, I forgot to take a pic of it before we ate, here are the leftovers.

Dessert - BEN AND JERRY’S and Strawberries

Drinks - Pinot Noir, per usual.

We girl gossiped late into the evening and drank our wine. It was a lovely day.

(Side note: How do I change my title from “Just another wordpress weblog” to a phrase of my choice? Also, can I change the top color from green to pink?)
